AACC = Always Available Caring Closets

Located in Title 1 Schools

Always Available Caring Closets, located in Title 1 schools, are stocked with food, school supplies, homework packs, clothing, and hygiene products. Teachers are able to get items from the Caring Closet for students that are in need. We restock the Caring Closets regularly so that students from families that need assistance have the supplies they need to succeed. 

Partnering with Local Schools

Our Ann Arbor Public School partners include Abbot, Allen, Bryant, *Dicken, *Lakewood, Haisley, Pittsfield, Mitchell, and Pattengill.

Each school supplies a coordinator to assist school staff in getting items from the closet. We maintain a weekly delivery day in which we check on stock. Should something be needed before our scheduled stop, the coordinator in the school will notify us.

I’ll bet you did not know that THIS is “school supplies”! But a parent needed it. And the school knew who to call! One bottle for the parent and one for the closet!

Over the years we’ve learned that you don’t find out about needs through interviews or handing someone groceries. Sometimes you must have a more personal experience. That’s how we learned that even laundry detergent is a vital and necessary school supply item!
