Six Things You Can Do To Protect Your Health

Hello Tuesday!!

We are getting there. We had to pick up groceries earlier today and for one of the first times for us, it wasn’t packed! Folks were following the arrows and only purchasing one or two of everything.

The CARES ACT, Stimulus checks or whatever YOU are calling it is working! People are in fact receiving $1200 into their bank accounts this week.

Please be patient. Some of you may not need the check from the government. Maybe you did not stop working or maybe you are doing well. Consider an organization, Church or way that you can use those funds to possibly help someone else.  The first payments have been transferred by ACH and should begin landing into your accounts on Wednesday.

Drive thru test are being conducted at St. Joseph Hospital without a doctor’s note. If you have symptoms. If you have symptoms go over, there are signs or call first.

Here are six healthy lifestyle changes that can make a difference.

The African American community is getting hit hard. Unfortunately the high rate of chronic disease in the community makes us more likely to suffer complications. This is something we MUST change!

The good news is that there are things that we can all do improve our overall health, reduce our chances of getting sick, and lesson the severity if we do get sick.

#1 – Eat healthy food high in nutrients and antioxidants. That’s fresh fruits and veggies in abundance. It includes whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes. Reduce or eliminate animal products, and processed foods.

#2 – Drink plenty of fresh clean water. Drink enough to keep your urine almost colorless. Skip the soft drinks. Drink water.

#3 – Get outside and get some sunshine on your skin. Not vitamin D pills. Go outside to get sun on your face and body.

#4 – Get enough rest. Take time to rest and sleep everyday to allow your body to do it’s healing work.

#5 – Move your body every day. Yes, you need to rest. But you also need to get up and move. Go take a walk. Do some yoga. Exercise every day.

#6 – Avoid toxins. The alcohol, the cigarettes, the caffeine, the recreational and prescription drugs, the sugar, etc.

We will get through this together as a caring Community!
